I just wanted to thank everyone that has supported BIMP from the beginning. Beer Is My Passion has been such an exciting challenge for me. Writing about beer, participating in tastings and beer festivals, and sharing my development as a homebrewer has been a truly rewarding experience. I’ve taken some much needed time to reflect on where I felt the future of Beer Is My Passion would take me/you, and I have some exciting news. Beer Is My Passion will be combining efforts with a fellow homebrew club (Krausen Growers Bureau) to form a brand new homebrew club. The Circle City Zymurgy club has officially filed with the American Homebrewer’s Association, and as of today I will be focusing my attention on making CCZ the best homebrew club it can be. Make sure to visit us at circlecityzymurgy.com for events, tastings, and news on all things fermented. Thanks again for the ride, and I hope you continue to make beer your passion!
Great Fermentations 20th Anniversary Party!
Great Fermentations has been a long time friend of homebrewers in Indianapolis. How long you ask? 20 frickin’ years 🙂 Come celebrate their 20th Anniversary bash this Saturday at GF’s Indianapolis location on 65th St. There will be plenty of beer to go around including contributions from Sun King, Dardevil, Broad Ripple Brewpub, Chilly Water, Flix Brewhouse, Grand Junction, and cider from McClure’s Orchard. Expect great food from Moveable Feast, and an acoustic show by The Indiana Boys. As a special thank you, GF will also partner with Pack Away Hunger Saturday morning to pack 20,000 lunches for the hungry throughout Central Indiana (click here if you’d like to volunteer) The event is free, and starts at 3pm (volunteering will get you early entry). See you there!
ER MAH GERD! THERS BER ERS SER HERPER!
BIMP @ BCBF 2015!
Come visit BIMP at the Bloomington Craft Beer Festival this weekend. Tickets are surprisingly still on sale (I would snag the Early Bird if I were you 😉 ) The weather is supposed to be awesome, and I can’t think of a better way to spend it than at the Woolery Stone Mill in Bloomington. BIMP will be pouring between 2 and 3pm (just after our comrades from the KGB). Some picks to look out for would be Tin Man’s Damascene, Upland’s Bockness Monster, and 18th St. The Contessa French Saison. Have a great time, and remember to be safe.
Here’s the address to the Woolery Stone Mill. Believe it or not, it’s at the intersection of Tapp and Kegg Rd.

Indy Beer News – Holiday Beer Edition 2.0
Indy Beer News has recently released an encore Holiday Edition podcast showcasing several Indiana breweries. This year’s podcast took place at the Monarch Beverage facility (compliments of Bob Mack), and included Mark Cady of Bloomington Brewing Company, Fred Hillenbrand of Tin Man Brewing, Eilise Lane of Scarlet Lane Brewing, Amy Haneline of the Indianapolis Star, Benjamin Sutton of Indiana Brew Haus, and homebrewers Jenn Myers and Erik Howell of Beer Is My Passion. The lineup was a great selection of beers including: Tin Man Damascene Apricot Sour Ale, Broad Ripple Brewpub Wee Alec, Taxman Holiday Tax, Bloomington Brewing Company Persimmon Ale, 18th St. Hunter Cherry, Tin Man Cafe Leche Milk and Coffee Porter, Scarlet Lane Marley’s Ghost, Tin Man Csar Russian Imperial Stout, Mashcraft Ancho Annie, Bloomington Brewing Krampus Imperial Black IPA, and Southern Tier 2XMAS. This podcast will teach you how to predict the future with persimmons, utilize hippies in the brewing process, how to evade demon goat people, and that there are some really passionate people working in the Indy beer scene. Anchorage Brewing Tasting at Sahm’s Place
This looks like an awesome tasting, although a little pricey. Anchorage has become one of my favorite breweries as of late. They make fantastic sours (one of my favorites was The Tide and It’s Takers) All the beers are rated exceptionally well on BeerAdvocate.com, and I’m sure the food will be outstanding as well. If you you can shell out $80 per ticket this would be a no brainer! Make sure to reserve quickly however, as I’m sure there are limited seats. You can reach Sahm’s Place at 317.202.1577 for a reservation.
Indy Beer Talks – Opening a Craft Brewery :: Indy Beer News
If you’ve been homebrewing for a while, it’s likely that opening a brewery has been on the back of your brain. Unfortunately for most, this dream may probably feel unattainable. Don’t lose hope just yet 🙂 Indy Beer News is hosting a free event focusing on the logistics of opening up a craft brewery. Brewers Andrew Castner of MashCraft (currently under construction on Indy’s South side) and Ray Kamstra of Indiana City Brewing (which will be celebrating their 1 year anniversary in May of 2014) will be speaking along with Matt Stoops of Financial Center Federal Credit Union who has worked with helping craft breweries get financed. The panel speaks for an hour with a brief Q and A session at the end of the discussion. The event takes place on Tuesday April 8th at 7:30pm at the Tomlinson Tap Room. My advice to you is to:
- Show up early
- Grab a beer (or two) at the bar
- Find a seat early, as this event may fill up quickly
- Bring a pen and paper
- Relax, and absorb knowledge!
You can register for the event by clicking the link below.
