Beer Cloud App

BeerCloud is an app created by head brewer of Hardywood Park Craft Brewery Eric McKay in Richmond, Virginia. This tool has some pretty cool functionalities including the ability to save your favorite beers, brewers, and places to buy brew. It also has the ability to give you a description of a beer by scanning the barcode, map places where your favorite brews are sold, and even has food pairing recommendations! What a great app. You can download it for Android, Iphone, or use it on the web.

Red Robin Debuts Sam Adams Beer Milkshake!

Image

Red Robin, home of the ghost pepper burger, has launched a beer milkshake today, made with Sam Adams Octoberfest draft, soft serve vanilla ice cream, vanilla syrup and caramel. It is available to customers 21 and over for about $5 and will be sold until November 11.

Donna Ruch, master mixologist with Red Robin, (yes folks, Red Robin does apparently have a “master mixologist”), refers to the milkshake as “innovative.”

Ale to the Chief: White House Beer Recipe Released

Image

Ever want to drink the same homebrew as the president of the United States? The White House has released their recipe for “Ale to the Chief Honey Brown.” They also shared a recipe for a Honey Porter that sounds pretty tasty for the winter time. I am a bit surprised that the POTUS settles for extract brews, but the recipe looks pretty solid.

Head on over to the link below to check out the recipes and instructions.

Ingredients

  • 2 (3.3 lb) cans light malt extract
  • 1 lb light dried malt extract
  • 12 oz crushed amber crystal malt
  • 8 oz Biscuit Malt
  • 1 lb White House Honey
  • 1 1/2 oz Kent Goldings Hop Pellets
  • 1 1/2 oz Fuggles Hop pellets
  • 2 tsp gypsum
  • 1 pkg Windsor dry ale yeast
  • 3/4 cup corn sugar for priming
