War of the Wheats Update

I’ve created a list of suggested wheat beers for those of you still looking for an entry. As you know this tasting will cover the entire wheat beer spectrum, which is kind of nice because I think it levels the playing field. These beers should also be easily found in the Indianapolis area. My list is as follows:

Schlafly Yakima Wheat Ale
Sixpoint Eight Days O’ Wheat
Brugge Brasserie White
Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel
Ayinger Ur-Weisse
St. Bernardus Witbier
Bell’s Oarsman Berliner Weissbier
New Belgium Mothership Wit
Thr3e Wise Men Two Lucys Blackberry Wheat
Oaken Barrel DunkelWeizen
Broad Ripple Brew Pub Hefe Weizen
Flat 12 Upside Down Blonde
Triton Fieldhouse Wheat
Bier Brewery Persephone Wheat
Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat
Sam Adams Summer Ale

Zac was also kind enough to link each wheat category to the corresponding Beer Advocate list in a previous post:

American Pale Wheat: Pale Wheat
American Dark Wheat: Dark Wheat
German Dunkelweizen: Dunkelweizen
German Hefeweizen: Hefeweizen
German Weizenbock: Weizenbock
Belgian Witbier: Witbier

    1. I would accept a Belgian Blonde as long as it can be proven that wheat is the primary grain used. BJCP guidelines say that Belgian Blonde Beer (18A. Belgian Blonde Ale) contains mainly Belgian Pils malt, aromatic malts, and sugar.
