A map has been released of the Bloomington Craft Beer Festival layout on the BCBF App a couple of days ago. If you tap the picture above on your phone you can zoom in and out. Looks like it’s going to be a fun time. Make sure to drop by the homebrew table located near the Firkins and say hi. We will only be pouring from 4-5pm, so make sure hit us up (You have to give BIMPer’s time to sample delicious brew too :)). We’ve got 7 brews to choose from while they last. Have a safe BCBF!

Upland’s 2nd Annual Sour Wild Funk Fest
Upland Brewing is hosting their second annual Sour Wild Funk Fest at Developer Town in Broad Ripple this May 11th from 1 to 5pm. Last year’s highlights included a raffle for Upland’s coveted Sour Reserve, a food pairing, and of course 50+ beers from 20+ breweries. Styles ranged from Lambic, Flanders, Farmhouse, and Saison and included locally brewed beers as well as beers from around the world. Some of my favorites from last year were Upland’s Gilgamesh, Goose Island’s Lolita, and Samuel Adams American Kriek. It’s a great small event for those looking to immerse your self in all things Sour. Tickets are onsale now, but going fast. Don’t miss out!
BIMP Participating at the 3rd Annual Bloomington Craft Beer Festival
Beer Is My Passion will be pouring at the 3rd Annual Bloomington Craft Beer Festival on April 13th at the historic Woolery Stone Mill. We’ve got some great beers to share for the event! Our booth will be open from 4:00pm to 5:00pm at the homebrewer clubs section of the event. Expect plenty of beer from breweries spanning across Indiana, along with live music from The Secret B-Sides and 220 Breakers. Tickets are onsale now through the Brewers of Indiana Guild website. There are three tiers of tickets: $50 for VIP (for entrance at 3pm instead of 4pm), $35 for General Admission, and $10 for a Designated Driver ticket. A portion of each ticket sale will be donated to the Monroe County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Here are some great photos taken by Ryan Dorgan from last years event!
New Albanian’s Gravity Head 2013 Event!
The Living Gravity Dead Outbreak is upon us! New Albanian celebrates “Gravity Heads” at their 15th annual Gravity Head event this year. This event spotlights beer of exceptional strength. All of their listed beers are over 8% abv. This should be a fantastic event, as they have over 60 kegs to tap from multiple breweries. On a side note, cabfare is encouraged. They have even setup a charity cab ride home with proceeds going to the Special Olympics and Polar Plunge 2013. Looking forward to this event!
First Annual BIMP Tour Revisited!
This tour was AMAZING! We packed up several empty coolers, mp3 players, and a small amount of luggage on a beer tour I’ll never forget. 8 people in a 12 passenger van forded through viscous wind, rain, and snow to visit some of the best breweries in the midwest. We hit Lafayette Brewing, Peoples Brewing, Crown Brewing, and Three Floyd’s on Day 1. Founders Brewing, Brewery Vivant, and Bell’s Brewing (where we enjoyed the wonderful musings of Keller Williams) on Day 2. Day 3 started a lot slower :), but we did manage to make an extended stop at Dark Horse Brewing before making the voyage back home. I personally sampled over 35 unique beers not distributed outside of the breweries, and also managed to bring home several rare bombers and a growler. What’s next for BIMP Beer Tours you ask? We are thinking about another trip North to Traverse City via train and working our way back to Indy. We definitely have more breweries to explore in the Grand Rapids, MI area. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks again to Keith, Michael, Lance, Ryan, Joe, Mikey, and Jenn for making this trip so enjoyable. Hope you had as good of a time as I did. Cheers!
BIMP Brewery Tour Embarks Tomorrow!
UPDATE ON THE BIMP BREWERY TOUR: I’ll be picking up the van tomorrow around 10am. I’d like to leave from my apartment complex (plenty of parking and you won’t get towed) AT 12PM. I currently have two midsized community coolers for people interested in purchasing beer along the way. If you have a small personal cooler that is welcome, we do ask if you are bringing a large cooler to please allow others to stow their brews as well. Keep in mind if you are planning on buying cases or bombers you may not have to refrigerate them. I would suggest that you pack light so we have more space in the van, but we should have plenty of room. Right now we are at 8 people who have reserved a seat. I’ll bring my FM Transmitter so we can play music off of ipods/phones/etc. Also, tickets are still available for Keller Williams at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe for $20-$25. The venue is super intimate (250 people capacity), and I’m sure will be a great time. Please call me, or shoot me an email at [email protected] if you have any last minute questions about the trip. I’ve sent out an email to everyone who has already reserved a seat with my address. Please be on time as we have a lot of breweries to hit over the next couple of days. Looking forward to an awesome adventure. Cheers!

Three Weeks Until Our BIMP Beer Tour
BIMP’s first brewery tour kicks off on January 30th. We’ll be renting a 15 passenger van for the trip with plenty of room for multiple coolers in the back for any special brews we buy along the way. We’ll also have a designated driver/chauffeur to take us to each brewery. The event kicks off on Wednesday January 30th at People’s Brewery in Lafayette, IN. From there, our forces will drive North towards Crown Brewery on our way up to Three Floyd’s Brewing Company where we will retire for the evening. I am planning on staying at the Fairfield Inn in Hammond, IN. The next day we’ll move towards Founder’s Brewery on our way to Bell’s Brewery. Keller Williams will be playing that night at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe on January 31st, which should be pretty sweet. I plan on staying at the Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo that night (It’s 1/2 mile from the brewery). The next day we’ll meander over to Dark Horse Brewery for lunch on our way to Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, as we slowly and surely move our jolly butts to Brugge Brasserie in Broad Ripple Indiana. How can we cap this evening off you say? Another night of Keller over at the Vogue on February 1st. You can reserve a yourself a seat for $60. This price covers all gas for the trip as well as the chauffeur that will take us to each brewery and drop us off at our hotels. I’m really looking forward to this trip and I hope you’ll come along.
BIMP Participating at Winterfest 2013!
You heard right folks, Beer Is My Passion will be participating at this year’s Brewers of Indiana Guild Winterfest at the Indiana State Fair on January 26th! What will we be doing you ask? Pouring delicious homebrew of course 🙂 We will be sharing the stage with 8 other Indiana Homebrew Clubs, each of which will be serving their mightiest homebrewed libations. I’ll be sure to update you all with a schedule of when our brews will be served. Hope to see you there!
